NEWS UPDATE!!

On 31 October we changed the age requirements for the divisions. The email that was sent out to teams on our distribution list is below.

l

Thank you all for your patience and understanding in reference to the message sent out earlier today (See Below). This is really a matter of choosing the hard right over the easy wrong. In the long run this will pay off as it will stay the same from here out and be in line with national and other state grade/age group classifications. Again, I am sorry for what I consider a last minute change. I am not in the habit of doing things last minute, in this case I felt like it was the right thing to do.

Here is the final decision in regards to age groups.

No changes to the weight classes.

Elementary Division. 12 and Under, K-6th grade Middle School  Division 15 and Under 7-8th grade. Elementary aged kids may wrestle “up” in the Middle School division but an athlete can only wrestle in one division on a single team.

If you have questions please call me.

We look forward to seeing Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Michigan represented at the duals. We have heard from New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia as well but I am not as confident about their participation. In all I believe we will have no less than 9 Middle School Teams and 10 Elementary Teams. Best of luck to everyone, now I have to get busy updating paperwork and the web sites!

PREVIOUS EMAIL

Happy Halloween folks!

We are facing some regulatory conflicts with some stat high school athletic associations that basically are keeping some age group kids from participating in the tournament. If you know me or our organization at all, you know that I and we, are very inclusive.

So we are considering adjusting the divisions so the elementary group includes 6th graders. 6th graders from some states would then have the option of wrestling on an elementary OR a middle school team.

I am currently sitting at a tournament but will resend more detail later this evening. Please email me or call me this evening and let me know the impact this would have on your teams, positive and negative, as soon as possible.

Thanks for having an open mind, I believe this will be a positive for most teams.
