Rhino Rules & Clues for Wrestlers 1. When a coach is talking wrestlers aren’t. 2. Being a member of this club means you will work hard at everything you do, not just on the mat or in the wrestling room but in school as well. 3. When a coach says “on the wall” get there quick (you’ll pick this one up, trust us). 4. Practice does not make perfect it makes permanent, if you practice poorly you will perform poorly. 5. You are not required to wrestle in tournaments but we expect you to practice like you are preparing for the championships everyday. 6. No street shoes on the mats…likewise your wrestling shoes should not be worn to and from your car or outside. 7. Stance, Stance, Stance. 8. Hard work = fun. 9. Always show up for practice in the best condition, you can. 10. If you are sick, stay home. 11. Wash up after every practice and meet. 12. Pre-hydrate so you don’t dehydrate…nothing beats water. 13. Do one more pushup and one more squat than you did yesterday, everyday…and we guarantee success. 14. Don’t let a ride stop you from making it to practice or a tournament, call someone. 15. If you have to go to the bathroom let an adult know before you leave the room. 16. We are guests at Jack Britt High School; it is a privilege to step on their mats. Respect their equipment, their room and their school. 17. After you are shown a move, don’t ask for help right away. Try the move at least five times, preferably ten, if you have not figured it out then ask for help. If you have not tried the move we can’t tell you what you are doing wrong. 18. No drinks until the coaches say so. 19. We have lots of wrestlers at different skill levels, don’t discourage anyone and don’t get discouraged. If this were an easy sport the basketball players would be doing it. 20. Wrestle hard or go home!! |
